They do a non-Rinko version too... https://www.compasscycle.com/shop/components/pedals/mks-us-b-nuevo-clipless-pedals/

Thanks for the info. Probably should have just googled it.
It's less the Rinko that I was perplexed about and more someone else being able to remove my pedals without tools/failure resulting in the pedals coming free whilst still clipped in.

Knowing Compass, I hardly think they'd sell a product that'll come loose while clipped in.
For some people it's a nice little security to take pedals while locking it up, it's not uncommon for pedals to get stolen so they can be easily sold for a fiver or a tenner.

The 'Rinko' qr is as used on all their qr pedals. It's awesome, totally safe but yeah in theory someone could release them and steal them (welcome to London).

Achilles heel of the best pedals for fixed. Preload/dustcaps come loose really quickly. Check and loctite them!

changed cleats, but these were still skidworthy

Anyone know what size bushings you need for Atac Aliums? I have three pairs that need servicing...
Rulla bearings are OOS (and pretty pricey for what they are).

I have a question about time atac pedals - I'm thinking about buying a set and maybe you could tell me what is the difference between XC4 and XC6 beside the weight? I've read that XC6 have some angular adjustment which I guess is a tension adjustment? Basically is it worth to pay extra for XC6 instead of XC4 if it's going to be used on a fixed gear?

Coz that is safe ... not.

Get the Aliums and be happy. They are bomb-proof and tbh the weight difference isn't going to make a lot of difference compared to other things.

It's a lots safer than driving above the speed limit.
It is even written in the fucking instructions booklet that come with the pedals.

I ain't starting that crap again.

Fair enough, you could have said that in the first place.
Being a proper bloke I never read any instructions.

TBF, you did start by interpreting the law to drive above the speed limit, like not interpreting the instructions provided by TIME that swapping the cleat round will provide extra security.

TBF this is a discussing about cleating systems rather than road laws. If you wanna keep on bringing up stuff about what happened 2 days ago ... start a new topic and ask me or send me a PM.

But it's such fun...

I think the Time Atac Aliums are excellent. Very stiff (in a non-bona way) and have good power transfer. What do you think Edscoble?

They're expensive.

I'm looking to get some clipless pedals for my bike now that I've started riding again and having done a bit of research it seems that people rate the Time Atacs. But now that the Aliums have been discontinued, which pedals would you recommend? Thanks!

If time is bit pricey for you try crankbrothers
don't do this

I used time atacs (aliums) for years. Now use crank bros (candy). I like, much smooth and easy to clip in/out. But would absolutely NOT recommend for fixed. Freewheel is okay but they are not reliable for pulling up, and they are not nearly as robust as atacs, so if you like to monster power everything, freewheel or not, then again do not recommend. Fine for me who cycles in a somewhat sedate manner.

I'm riding fixed so would definitely like pedals that I can backpedal and occasionally skid in without concern. I'd probably be looking for some mid-level pedals, so would want to spend around £60 by the look of it
Rinko is the japanese term for travelling on the train with the bike (very common in Japan).
Japanese train don't generally allow full size bike or even bike bag, but the Rinko system allow you to take apart a bicycle small enough with minimal tools.
