So.. can anyone help me finish build this, I'm in need of...
Crankset 50/34 - 5800 or 6800
Discs - 140 I think, or do I need to go 160 and adapters..?
Chain & Cassette - is there any reason to go 6800 over 5800?And then I need to get the wheels built, probably by Arup.

SO hubs have arrived and they weigh and look almost identical to the novatec d112 for the rear, probably because it is, and something slightly different for the front. But either way they weigh up relatively light 440g for the pair

After taking me around north america, across the alps and all over the UK my caadx is getting a new lease of life as a light weight beater.
- Swapped fork to ritchey wcs cross fork which needs chopping down
- Going 1x10 with gevenalle/ retroshifters and a narrow wide ring that's on the way
- silver Thomson masterpiece layback is in the post
- giving a new cassette / cables & chain

Bits for wheels have all arrived. Dropped them off with Arup last night.

awful photo, but this is coming together. Tyres fit, although you have to take the air out of them to get them in/out of the rear.
Worth mentioning how much of an arse the tyres are to get on, thumbs still hurting from the hour i spent yesterday squeezing them on.

That is very nice indeed. Tbh dont even bother with the paint. Weighed it yet?

Thanks - it's 8kg on the dot
Can save another 250g by swapping tyres to grand prix 4000s which I'll do when I take it to the mountains, it's also got heavy basic spd pedals that I could probably lose another 100g on. All in very happy.
Only annoying thing is the knocking around of the internal cable routing...

£600!?!?! Was the frame free?
Dont go weenie, preserve the ride quality (esp tyres, put latex tubes ASAP) I was just curious.
Maybe Ritchey pedals .. I love mine. Shimano SPD compatible.

Got the frame off here for a bargain £240 with the groupset and brakes minus the crankset. Wheels built for £200 and got the rest on the cheap with a bit of ebay hunting.

mad bargains all round, one of the best weight:ride quality:££ ratio

Great build - seriously good value. Tyres set it off big time!

How much room have you got between front tyre and fork? Any chance of a pic from the front?
I run 28mm gravel kings and not much room. -

Oh, bike looks great, would leave the paint for now.

Thanks :)
So far longest ride is a 10 mile ride to a friends in the country roads of Cambridge. This thing blasts along on the flats, and the fatty 30c tyres + carbon frame just takes all the buz out of the road

The only thing I'd change is 6800 shifters if you can find them cheap. They shift nice.

So I'm a moron it turns out.
I superglued a ball bearing into one of the stem steerer tube clamp bolts on the caadx as a theft prevention method.
But, I hadn't adjusted the headset properly...
I tried to remove the ball bearing and have had absolutely zero luck. Tried hacking / twatting it with something pointy, I've tried loosening the glue with acetone and I've tried heating it up with a cigarette lighter. So far nothing
I'm nervous about adding too much heat as its attached to my nice full Carbon ritchey fork.
Any ideas?
Orderd some DT Swiss r 460 dbs - should be able to get the wheelset at around 1600g which is light enough for me.
