  • I can't ride anything else these days, it seems.

  • Yikes! When was your last bike fit?

  • Lol

  • Sick burn.

  • Lol just read this!

I'll get my own back when the topic (eventually) moves to kitchen fit out suppliers....

  • I've suddenly found I'm qualified to perform root canal surgery. Love the more subdued 'classic' approach Cervelo have taken recently with decals and paint schemes.

In the short term pedals, a 130mm stem, Fizik Antares saddle and Veloflex Corsa tyres (+/- Latex inners if i can find some talc in the house) go on it tonight.
Medium term, new wheels either Chinese 50/60mm carbon tubular wheels and/or some nicer light aluminium box section wheels.
Longer term the 105 may find it's way it on to my commuter/training bike, with a new groupset for the Cervelo. Will also start thinking about a power meter around this stage

  • Learn to touch your toes and ditch the scoble stack

  • Can quite possibly do it while in the saddle at that angle.

  • It's straight from the shop innit. That'll all be sorted with new stem and saddle.

  • Stem and saddle sorted. Need to move the levers down the bars now, not sure what they where thinking when building the bike.

Anyhow, first ride on it today and love it. The frame coupled with 25mm Veloflex Corsa at 85/95psi certainly makes for a much smoother ride than my Aluminium bike with 23mm tyres. Prefer the Antares too over my regular Arione.

  • I really like that the R2 finally has fully internal cables. The early external ones looked a bit cheap (relative to their retail price)

Arguably the upgrade for a Cervelo is rotor cranks. There are a few people flogging them on the forum at the moment. Also I'd keep the 105 groupset. It's bomb proof and not that much heavier than Ultegra

  • Not mine but an old school example from one of our team riders. Still fast well over a decade on! Keen eyed viewers will notice the non standard temporary seatpost made out of an aerobar extension and BMX seat topper.

  • Rotor 3d+ cranks get, just waiting for the rings to turn up now. Have gone with Campag Chorus for the rest of the groupset which I'll no doubt regret as soon as it refuses to play with the Rotor cranks/ (NoQ) chainrings

  • Remember, NOTHING shifts better than shimano.

  • Remember, NOTHING shifts better than shimano.

Which is why I use nothing on my Cervelo :-)

  • Oh aye, it's the emotional choice 'for sure'. Looking forward to the FD randomly dumping the chain onto the BB shell.

  • after extensive testing of chain catchers, i recommend the rotor version. I rode with Q-rings for HOTN VII and didn't drop the chain once

  • wow that is low front setup

  • low front setup

    I don't think there's much more drop than mine, it's just a midget's bike :-)

  • Keen eyed viewers will notice the non standard temporary seatpost

Keen eyed viewers will notice the Campag monoplanar brakes too

  • mine:

  • We're putting them to good use!
