my sense/from what I have read the LP12 looks great but is a right faff and for 500 notes you are unlikely to get one that's sorted. The Ariston RD80 is a budget version of the LP12 that's prolly in budget, I bought one new in the mid-80s and loved it. I now have a Michell Focus One and am quite pleased with it (also in budget)

How would these compare to a modern Project turntable? I'm off to look at that Braun 400, a 500 would be better though from what I hear but I am afraid of buying anything that requires postage.

I think if the previous keeper took care of it then vintage can be painless. The Michell I bought from the original owner, it was lightly used then stored. Result!
