Sharp bit of gravel went all the way through a brand new Open Pave, so really want to repair it.You need to make a new boot. There are loads of takes on booting. See some of the many pages.

Aye. Had a quick read this afternoon. Making at tyre boot seems the best longterm fix, but as you say, a flexible glue and some sort of patch on the inside seems to be ok. Found a large tube of flexible rubber bonding adhesive (no idea what I bought it for many moons ago) in the shed, stuck a tube patch with overlay of old innertube on the inside, let it go off, then filled the hole from the outside with the frba, seems fine. Will report back if rear tyre explodes.

Ha. Hence it being on the rear. If I do step off, I'll get Mrs. Jontea to update.

Any suggestions for a light touring tyre? Durability slightly more important than speed, but I don't want a full-on touring tyre (e.g. Marathon Plus).

Panaracer Pasela.

Anyone run Gravel Kings SKs brakeless? Interested how they hold up to skids.
-
• #3118
No. But done about 1500 miles on them, geared bike, disc brakes, little/no skidding, file thread nearly gone on rear. I would say they're too soft to hold up to skidding.

Other suggestions look sound, but I've had really good winter and commuting mileage out of a Continental Grand Prix (not 4000s/i/ii/ x etc). On top of 2000 miles around Ireland #boastpost
It's a comfortable tyre too, although only goes up to 28c. Cheap too.

Schwalbe Durano Plus or Panaracer Ribmo for 28mm non-skidding commuter duty?
-
• #3121
Can't comment on the Pain aux raison Ribmo but my Durano Plus have outlasted everything else I've used except maybe a Marathon.
-
• #3122
I agree, I run the Grand Prix as well and was impressed with it's reliability and longevity.
-
• #3123
Only 1,000 miles in so far, but +1 on Marathon Supreme.

I've been using these for about a year, and I ride almost everyday. 1 flat only, and very light in 28. Only changed to try tubeless
