It depend on the seat tube as well, I'm not sure what @andyp bike is (was it a Cervelo?) as some frame have the front derailleur too far out, or too far in, which can be a problem with the Shimano new front derailleur (shifting up is more like a snap rather than a light gentle action).
Perhaps the eTap front derailleur didn't allow enough adjustment for the difference in seat tube?
