  • Everything miche make is made of cheese.

That is really not fair. Their Miche Primato Advanced cranks are not that bad. Their chainrings are also OK--not great but OK. The hubs are also OK.. Not in the same league as Campa, Shimano or Phil Woods but also cost a fraction.. The Miche Pistard tubular wheels are as boutique wheels go a reasonable deal. For a beginner wanting a boutique wheelset they are not even a bad choice.. Their lockring is a bit too soft but also cheap and the alternatives are expensive (Phil Wood or Campa). If you use a suitable lockring tool-- you want to grab more than just two slots-- they're fine. I've seen a number of people use them on Phil hubs ..

  • I borrowed my girlfriend's clincher pistards to race on last night. They're okay. Even with good tyres and latex tubes they felt sluggish and slow. Heavy too. Not too stiff either in a sprint.
Also- that whole sprocket carrier system and terrible lockring. Yuk.

I generally think people are talking shit when they say "I could feel the cranks flexing" but the miche track cranks really do feel like spaghetti compared to almost everything else. The rings are not stiff either.

Just personal preference / experience I suppose.

The carrier system goes on a regular cog thread, so you can also just run cogs the normal way.

    Or very round.

Sluggish? Compared to what? Heavy? The tubular Pistards-- my wife has a set-- are ~1900g. The current Mavic Eclipse tubulars are just a few grams lighter but much less robust-- 20 spokes front and rear versus 24/32-- and much more expensive. For a factory wheelset they are really OK-- I can't really say anything bad about the build quality.
