  • So I will have to ride the HDW when I really want to be racing over 25miles on the E2.

  • They're not just going to gift you an entry into the National 100 without a previous time. Just enter the Hounslow or something. It's fast enough that you'll get a good qualifying time. If it clashes, then find another 100 or work out what you want more - 25 or 100? There's more races on E2 later in the year too.

  • We're not talking about Nat 100, I know I will likely need a time for that.
Talking about ECCA 100 on e2/100

  • Oh, well that's a maybe. It's meant to be fast which is why it fills up so if you want the best chance of getting in, you need to prove that you're fast enough for it which will mean setting a qualifying time. You could risk not having one but then you might not get in at all and you'll still not have a 100 time.

  • I think this means I would end up riding 3 x 100s!

  • Nothing wrong with that

  • No. Good training tbh.

Also seen 3h29min on the bentley course. So it can be fast for 100.
Where my 25 pb is too.

  • So? I rode 3x100s in 3 weeks a few years ago and improved in each one, until I finally went under 4hrs on the F1/100 course.

  • So 100 miles is a long way. I don't know if I can be bothered to ride that far. Let alone 3 times. ;)

  • If you're Tops!

  • Just ride the Hounslow, get a time, then enter the National. Job done.

  • We'll see, I'm skinny.

  • E2/100 is just on my front door. Would be rude not to ride it. So I'll do 3. Tbh 100s are pretty good training.

  • Looks like you've already made your kind up, but the Q100 is all single carriageway, quiet roads. Flat as a pancake, but if the wind blows on the marshes it can be brutal.

  • When I lived in folkestone, I used to use those roads to do TT work. I know how brutal it can be and nearly always is.

  • Somone find me someone willing to sell their Trek Speed Concept in M. That isn't too far from london area

  • Yeah thanks. I will have a bid on that one.
Want a clincher disc really, so will see what it goes for.

On the TT forum he was entertaining splitting out the wheels from the rest, might be worth having a chat with him outside of the bay.

  • Who else other than Ed is riding the H25/2 on Sunday? I'm sorely tempted to fuck it off and concentrate on proper training but I'd like to kill it in the face too to exorcise a demon, if you get me (it'll probably be rained off, shit course). Might use it to test a new config I've had waiting for a bit. Hmm.

Oh, anyone spotted 56 or 58T to suit DA9000 cranks for cheaps anywhere?

  • fibrelyte..?

    go big 65T

  • I don't really want to buy a new one.
If my new cranks every materialise I'll only use it for a couple of races so it's a bit pointless.

I still have quite high cadence for a TTer so, no thanks, 56-58T please.

  • I might race that. I need 10, 50 and 100 mile club records still and it should be fast, right, even with the b roads?

It's fast unless you get a windy day (or IME if you've done the Newbury 12 hour the weekend before)

The B roads aren't too bad.

I reckon you have a better chance of getting into the National than the ECCA 100 without a time.

I'm hoping to do both (and also the Hounslow), but a lot of people won't be arsed to travel to Wales. The course could be ok but probably not super fast (last I looked it hadn't been finalised) depending on how much A 40 vs back roads they leave in.

EDIT - ignore all the above - Just realised I've got mixed up with the National 12 hour which is in Wales

  • Yeah, weren't you racing the National 12 on those Cambridge roads with me a few years ago?
Windy as buggery that day! It's a bit of a pain to get to but I don't mind the roads so I'll probably race it.
