• Thought I was going to finish this a few weeks back, but ran in to some issues.

The bottom bracket shell had to be chased, same with the head tube. That took forever. The BB I was going to use is way too wide (in my head I thought it was 113mm, but it's not) and the other spare one I have is too narrow (110mm). The front derailleur won't shift properly with the cranks too close or too far away from the frame. Figuring out the cable routing for the front derailleur was interesting too. The headset has been installed, but is still a little loose. I need to get that tightened as well. The largest sprocket on the cassette almost hits the rear derailleur, despite them working fine on the Cannondale. Not sure if I need to move the wheel further back in the frame, adjust the B screw or shorten the chain. The driveside rear canti post is a bit bent or something, but it was a struggle to get the V brake arm on and it doesn't spring back after the brake is applied. Going to see if I can lube the post, or tighten the arm so it doesn't move and just run the brake on one side. It is the rear brake after all, and I won't be descending any hills or anything on this bike.

Anyway, new BB will hopefully be purchased today and it might be finished this weekend.

  • Do you think you'll need 2 front rings? Is just running a small single ring an option? Even just in the short term to get it rollin ?
