I'm considering changing from Vittoria Pista CS to something else - these are for my outdoor racing/training wheels.
My favorite general tyre for outdoor tracks is the Continental Sonderklasse. Tempo are also not bad for training. FMB Super Piste Cotton is also a great tyre-- a bit like the old Sonderklasses. If you never ride in the train the Soie version is nice-- I just hate seeing my silk tyres rot. If you want to use road tyres there are a number of good choices. Instead of Vittoria why not a Veloflex Carbon? Or FMB Records (a modern take on the old Wolbers)?
The Pista CS's are okay, but a bit wooden and offer very little puncture protection. Also I've had a few bad tyres in the last year where the basetape has detached from the tub (straight out of the packet).
You can re-glue them with latex carpet glue. If you are using road mastics you could also use Terokal 2444. What is important is that the mastic used to attach the rim to base-tape is weaker than the bond between the base tape and tyre.
