  • Does it have a ref number on the case back?

  • sorry no, it was on a geezers wrist and he let me take a pikkie

  • it's a CA4095-04H aicmfp

  • Wicked, many thanks,,, off to spend some money

  • Sure as hell isnt going to fit under a shirt cuff

  • Love my seiko but not wild about riding with it as it's a bit big, and I have a habit of falling off, especially when engaged in muddy mountain bike action.

    Decided to engage a trusty casio for the job, never really liked the strap though so:

    Used a knife to skim a few mm off the case to allow the strap though and now it works perfectly. Very very slim and won't matter if I trash it as the whole lot cost under a tenner.

  • Only 100 pages behind in this thread... what are the chances of a repost... :P

    Who doesn't want a 6k Casio... ?

  • Ha. I've got a really weird craving for an old school square g-shock, as a sort of 'fuck you' to the elegance of most modern watches. Probably not that one though.

  • 5600 is the correct answer

  • I remain amused by the concept of multi-thousand pound divers which will never be dived with, and things of that ilk. Or $6k GShocks, for that matter.

    Sure, pay good money for a good tool watch. But to then baby it and not use it as a tool? It's just commodity culture where the perceived value of the thing is far more than its actual use value. That's fine, it is what it is. But it seems a bit anathema to the idea of a tool watch, specifically.

  • Thing is, who actually needs any kind of mechanical tool watch these days? Anyone that needs a rugged watch buys a £100 G-Shock, and anyone that wants to dive uses a dive computer. Modern mechanical tool watches dont really have much function beyond aesthetic appeal.

  • I use my slide rule on a regular basis thank you very much!

  • Where on the bell curve would that put you?

  • Slap bang in the middle of the abnormal distribution I'd imagine...

  • You can get an automatic tool watch that doesn't cost thousands, though. Like the Seiko 5s. They're great. And personally I find an analogue dial easier to read at a glance than digital.

  • I saw an old boy with a weathered Pepsi Rolex the other day looking like it had seen as many years. I would expect it to have seen a few reefs in its time too. Your point being?

  • It's the romance of the thing.

    You're quite correct in that a £10 shell suit from Sports Direct will more than adequately keep me warm and protect my modesty - I do have a thing for Hugo Boss suits though.

  • You mean that my Seiko 5s are just as good at telling the time as my Rolexes? I've been conned!

    The best watch in my collection for telling the time is my F-91W. Everything else is a mixture of engineering porn and jewelry.

  • Engineering porn? Jewelry? Here's my latest wank mag;

    hnnnnnnnngggggg

  • Sploosh.

    Just been told my Sinn won't be here for two weeks. Boo.

  • Has that pin come out again?

  • Where did you get yours from?

  • Hi Ed!

    No, photo taken when it was happy to do so :-)

    In the interests of engineering pr0n here's a couple more;
