Just got knocked on the ground by some idiot in a Maserati on my way home; cyclist is bruised and front wheel is making a figure of eight, so I think I'll skip this one. FUCK as YAL nicely put it. (Sorry, no group save for the Blackfriars bunch)

Bayleys.
Where's the error in the route? In hindsight the best way to get to the foot of Bayleys is to go straight past the left turn up Bore Lane, take the next left up Hale Oak Road, then left at the end. Less potholes and gravel, but be careful of the couple of sharp bends en-route.

How does one get a gpx file from ridewithgps?
-
• #37
Also I'm not well versed on bikes on trains any more, will the 19:04 from Blackfriars be late enough to let us on with bikes?
-
• #38
They say bikes are OK on the 19.04; their policy is no non-folding bikes on trains before 18.59.

If you open the link you should see an "export" tab on the right hand side-bar, if you click on this is should offer a few GPX download, you can then select the most appropriate one for your device.

Bad news dude, hope you're on the mend. See you on the next one.

Cheers, I found this but now I can't upload it to my Garmin Connect! I can't upload direct to my Garmin as my work laptop doesn't allow any USB storage connections, so I thought if I upload it to my Garmin Connect and then sync wirelessly that would work but sadly it keeps saying there's an error when uploading to Garmin Connect. Just going to drop by other half's work on the way to Blackfriars. Will be easier.

The error is on the first crossing of the M25 just before Sundridge. The route takes you down Combe Bank Drive and across the footbridge, what we actually do is follow the road round. It is perfectly doable but it is a bit of a mud-bath.
I'm interested in the alt route to the foot of Bayleys, there is a particular part of Bore Lane that can be horrendous for potholes, tho they seemed to have done a lot of repair work to it last year. Now in a bit of a dilemma whether to navigate it on the fly or stick to the known route and do a recce of it in daylight before updating the route.

I must say i do like the idea of skipping the mud of Combe Bank Drive and going round Chevening Road.

it's looking like gabba weather tonight for the return home
-
• #48
Indeed, it's a masterpiece of timing to catch the only "heavy rain" forecast for this area all week. No gabba here, just a squadra.

Took my cranks off to install new bb, at which point i realised the end caps of one of my time atacs was loose. Reassembled bike and it is quieter but still makes noise when i stomp down. Can't be arsed to do it all again so hoping it will survive the ride tonight.

I may turn up with variable transmission if people don't object too much.
And should it not be "the one in the middle of nowhere the name of which I can never remember"? Or "the name whereof"?
19.04 from Blackfriars arrives Otford 19.46, the 19.12 takes longer and doesn't get there until 20.07.
