I want to install a garmin mount on my 3ttt super criterium handlebars. I've managed to make it work with the regular garmin mount, but I need a big amount of rubber bands etc. Which looks pretty awful.
Do you know of any mounts that are made specifically for such handlebars (I think 26 mm diameter)? -

Once they iron out the battery depletion, I'll be all over it.

You'll know every lane by heart before that will happen.

520 can use GLONASS satellites so should in theory be better. Haven't really noticed a great deal of difference - perhaps a little quicker than the 500 to find your location.

so it turns out the reason the uploaded segments weren't working is because you can't use both a course and segments at the same time, it's one or the other which makes the feature next to useless for me seeing as I rarely know where I'm going without guidance.

Right, time to upgrade my Fenix II. Do I go to a Fenix III and continue what really is an abusive relationship with Garmin, or do I go for a Suunto of some description?
If the former what is the best price that anyone has spotted for a Fenix III that has fast delivery?

My 810 turned itself off right at the end of today's ride due to running out of power. Plugged it in, turned it back on, no option to save or discard ride. Is the ride lost forever?
I can't see an incomplete fit file on either the Garmin or the SD card, might it hide it elsewhere?

Does it not lurk in the LAPS/CURRENT directory (or similar)?

I shall have a look- 95k of Colorado Rockies, I would like to get the file if possible

• #3236
Nope, no such folder that I can find on an 810. Fuck.

does a garmin translate .gpx on its own to .tcx if i feed the data to the "new files" folder ?
-
• #3238
No , it changes gpx or tcx files to fit files and moves them to the courses folder if they are gpx/tcx, routes or tracks.. This is if you are referring to the edge series. Some other garmin devices retain the gpx file format.
-
• #3239
yes, its the edge520. i am just curious if it will work if i just drop the .gpx file into new files folder ?
-
• #3240
Pretty sure that a gpx will work on the 520. In fact for most people dropping gpx files into the newfiles folder is the usual way to put courses onto the device.

Aldi doing the edge 25 this week. Anyone use one for training? Are they worth it for 80 pounds?
-
• #3242
thanks mate.
-
• #3243
Hmmm.. yes providing you basically just want a speedo that will track your rides for Strava/GC. If you want to regularly use courses, use a HRM, use the 'map' like a compass as a rough guide, or like to be able to stop mid-ride and switch the unit off for a while to resume later - no.

• #3244
.. And if that hasn't put you off you can buy mine for £60 (it's been used about 10 times)

fwiw 500 only take tcx file

I've only relatively recently got an Edge 1000 and want to update it to get the new features shown here: http://garmin.blogs.com/my_weblog/2016/04/garmin-announces-cycling-updates-.html
How do you do a software update?
-
• #3247
Load garmin express on a pc and it will check for updates and install when your device is connected.
-
• #3248
Proudly not a user of any of that shit.
The update better not fucking break existing units.
I'm looking at you, Garmin fuckwits...
