Picture of your bike? Please thanks

Hmm yeah bigger chainring = even less clearance. Balls. This could get interesting.

No.
I'm his faster rival.

It got mudguard mount, you should be able to fit some 35mm mudguard.

Nice 'Lance' Yellow. I guess matches with your Livestrong wrist band ..
Also arent SMP supposed to have in-line post?
-
• #4960
It's more of a burnt ochre, but yes, it still compliments all seven of my full Discovery Yellow Jersey USPS kits.
In-line post? Je ne sais pas-I just switched out my Thomson inline to meet the measurements of my online, DIY, probably piss-poor bike-fit with regards saddle setback to the bb axle and also saddle-bar distance as it was a bit cramped compared to my Roberts which had weird semi-compact geometry and a long top tube.

Awesome. Theres one for the sales on here. I hope the standard sks will fit. Probably look at 105 gruppo with long drop calipers

So it was a bargain (rather than a death-trap)!
I'm a poor substitute for Scoble, but my understanding is that the usual setback measurements don't translate to SMP and that they sit further forward than regular saddles.
Something to do with sitting in, rather than on them.
You've got that a long way back, on a set-back post: what does your meat & two veg have to say on the subject?

I feel like all black errything is a bit boring these days, but I've ruined that by doing exactly that to my CAAD
-
• #4965
what the fuck is going on with that whole bar levers area?!?!
-
• #4966
Nice that. Such mad bargain.

It's the early 00's all over again.

you mean the colour or the bars themselves?
Colour is just something to lighten the mood-I'm not aspiring to the archetypal goth look, although it will be a dirty yellow grey soon enough with my grubby hands.
Bars are carbon ergo specialised replica jobbies I got because anything else seems to torture my hands-I've always had bad circulation in them.
Anyway, horses/courses etc

Today is one of those day that people who work in the bike industry get to check out and ride new product, so I get to ride this Cannondale Slate.
It was pretty awesome, especially how light and agile it immediately felt after jumping on it, it's very likely given my history of riding on 650b tyres that I felt quite at home on the Slate.
The Lefty impress me greatly, it work so well, that I was happy to leave it unlock while riding on the road, it doesn't felt like a normal suspension, just a little amount of travel to take up the small imperfection that the Schwable G-One tyres didn't managed to, bit like @Smallfurry's Lefty on his fat bike, I'd says it's very much akin to a road version of a fat bike.
Off roading is equally impressive, while the grip on the 40mm G-One is lacking (probably the tiny tiny knob doesn't do much in muddy and rough environment), it climb and descend steep singletrack very well (the trade show is in Cannock Chase that have ample opportunity to try out several type of bicycles), and while doesn't feel as confident as a proper MTB, it felt much easier to ride than a cyclocross bike.
The 10-42 is perfect off road, on-road however is fine, but the lack of small jump can be off putting, especially the drastic jump to 10t that felt like going from 15t to 12t in one shift with a 52t chainring in comparison, felt very disconcerting and remind me of the old 5 speed touring freewheels.
Really enjoyed the SRAM braking and shifting, prefer it over the Shimano actually.
IMHO, Cannondale nailed it with the Slate, it's exactly what an adventure bike should be like, my only criticism is that the rear tyres clearance is surprisingly small and does not allow much room for mud to go through with the 40mmG-One.

oh no, I'm quite partial to a splash of colour with the tape. I was talking about the shape of the bars, but if they work for you ¯_(ツ)_/¯
without wanting to sound overly scoble, do you think a bike fit might help keep the pressure off you hands?

Reading up about it, the Olive fork is very different to the MTB Lefty, so have a feeling the construction is different, obviously @Howard would know more about this, but the road-going Lefty is fuckiung amazing, exactly how it should be, and would definitely be a massive improvement over the rockshox fork used during Paris Roubaix in the past.
where the hell do you find that to 795?
