As a standard rider who commutes, rides up and down hills and around London and so forth, my bike with discs is an absolute revelation. I will never buy another road bike that is not equipped with discs, and I'm even looking at getting a disc fork for my fixed gear.
I can't believe the people talking about discs as if they're nothing but a marketing gimmick have ever ridden a bike equipped with them. I'm also in two minds about the opinions of the pros. Presumably they've ridden them and just don't feel the need for better braking in any/all weather?

There's a case for them on mountain descents on carbon rims in the rain. Not at Roubaix - unless its insanely muddy but then you'll have bigger problems. Strikes me as weird they even tried them there.
