Plan C with M6 thread. Most of the tools were out on the bench for a longer but less interesting job...
A longer version (around 40mm) might work as a front light mount towards the top of a rack stay, depending on your choice of light?
PM me a postal address if it looks suitable?

Uuuuuuupdates. not a bad afternoon's work here, though I still need chainring bolts, brake inners and a clean chain. I kept the 10s 105 rear mech on because it looks nicer than the Sora 9s, and I imagine it'll work just as well.

Pedals for the Cannondale are MKS GR9 with Soma cages and straps which I got for £30 delivered from a seller on US eBay. A bargain, I feel.
I also picked up a new seatpost for the Orbit to replace the stubby Campag one:
I need a seatpost bolt for it as well but I'm not sure what I actually need. @Scilly.Suffolk?

I need a seatpost bolt...
It's just a regular seatpost binder bolt, nothing out of the ordinary.
Campag have stopped making them, so the remaining ones are stoopid money (SJS I'm looking at you).
@thecycleclinic now stock Silva in lieu of Campag, so that's what I'll be buying.

Any chance this is what you need?
http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/seat-bolt-binder-chromed-steel-2-piece-type-27-mm-with-allen-key-ends-prod12504/I just bought one but it was just a little too wide for my (steel, reasonably skinny) frame - would happily freecycle.

"Notch locator."
I can't remember if the Orbit has a notched binder.

Bit of messing today
The blue chainring bolts seem to say: "I went to an LBS near my work and they only had a box of random bolts in the workshop. The only single-ring ones were blue."
The bloke helpfully told me that "they're lightweight alloy, so they can snap when you're tightening them," as he charged me £1.50 per bolt.
Now this bike's pretty much ready to go and get measured for the rack...
And the seatpost bolt @lemonade kindly gave me is too long :(

Was just experimenting with aesthetics there. See upthread for slammage.

Do you know how wide your bolt is Phil?
It's a room full of breezeblocks that we stack up and then break using various body parts. Doesn't everyone have one?
