Can anyone recommend tyres?

Tyres are a very personal choice. I personally run these all year round for commuting and get about 1 puncture a year

Is that not a Rando that you've skidded the shit out of in the picture? If so you'll struggle to find anything much more hard-wearing. Maybe a Gator hardshell.

I bought Michelin Pro4s and they're shit after <100 miles. Would not recommend. Probably should send them back really...

Need to start slowing down with my legs rather than just locking out

on that note, please tell me those pedals you are running have spd's in the middle of them and you aren't skidding with no foot retention at all :-)

armadillo's are getting better
but i 2nd mikes option of bontrager hard case tyres have them on a number of my bikes and i would recommend

+1 on the Rubinos, I'm on Gatorskins on both bikes but they've punctured more than my Rubino Pro's ever did. Neither of these are great for skids.

My Rubino Pros were great for skids. Especially when I didn't want them. Like going round a roundabout, or turning into side roads. That said, absolutely no wear to speak of.

I just read this completely wrongly, with hilarious results. I thought 'when I didn't want them' referred to the tyres, not to the skids. So I imagined you going out, hellbent on ruining your unwanted tyres, skidding round roundabouts like a boss. Needless to say the real meaning is a little disappointing.

Do you own a fixed gear bike? I think I've only even seen you on the Cannondale or the thing with the moustache/drop bars?

Nah, I'll get one sometime when I have more space. The moustachioed roadrat is in pieces now, making way for the new racing/everything bike. Cannondale will probably be up for sale in the summer too.

I would +1 the Bontrager Hardcases...they do a folding XL/XXL (can't remember which) version which are much lighter, but still wear very well and don't give in to punctures for 1000's of miles.

Gatorskins good up to 1000 miles and then puncture every few yards. Not tried the hardcase version yet.

Conti Grand Prix 4 season. Great tyres, expensive, but been running them for a year so far with no flats and still going strong and I commute 5 days a week 30 miles a day on these....all year, so not shabby.

Hadn't seen your initial pic...woah...that's some serious wear man. Ever thought of solid tyres as per kiddies tricycle's ;) A slight weight disadvantage, but think they would see you through for quite some time.
