Problem with that frame is, it's too lovely. I need something cheap and slightly knackered that I can take to HH and not be too worried about breaking. If you ever get rid of the Ridley, let me know!

Why would you break it at herne hill. Unless you plan on crashing then you'd be fine and it's not mad expensive for a full build, get it / stick some nicer cranks on.
But if it's not for you then fair enough :)
There's always the pre-cursa for a cheap starter? The 60 of them is pretty big, very cheap if you already have a fork too. (Guessing it's not big enough tho)
