Cheers for the input guys. Is £500 the going rate for a well used P2 with some paint damage?...
Oh, and thanks for the Vuka tips Jim

what about open corsa's?
£75 for a pair with latex tubes feels like a good deal!

Not a TT tyre.

Its the afternoon.
I shall be marshalling .
Pointing you back to the start at the turnaround roundabout . All 150 of you.

More aero than the Stealth and I'm sure I've seen some fast people are using 'em.
Legs > Bikes though unfortunately.

For racing? Turbo Cotton.

Chicken. Risk / Reward is all part of the fun!
(says the guy that usually runs touring tyres)

Turbo Cottons are heavier and thicker aren't they? So I would suggest they are likely to be more durable than Supersonics.
-
• #12210
I use them on the front as they're a bit skinnier than the turbo cotton.
Did a 1:51:09 50mi and a 1:00:43 30mi with an Open Corsa on the front. -

Anything can be a TT tyre, depending on the parameters of the race.

agreed, given that im riding to the hq+start of h25/2, i need something tougher than paper!

Did hcc234 tonight, 5 watt PB for a 10, presumably a country mile behind @specialist, got caught behind my minute man and a land rover for a couple of minutes but still think there's more in the tank, a 4 minute warm up probably wasn't enough also was the coldest I've ever been on a TT despite wearing my club suit that is v thick!
-
• #12214
Exactly. I only use the Turbo Cotton if I'm driving to the event. At £50 a go, there's no wucking fay I'm wasting them on fUxbridge Rd.

hmmmm, maybe i'll stick with GP4000s!

Bwaarrrrkk!

less than 30 seconds behind, if i can maintain that gap onto some faster courses i'll be happy!

I have my first time trial in a couple of weeks (H25/2). Can I ask a few total novice questions - like do people leave stuff at HQ (like car keys and kit)? Do the courses tend to be well marshalled? I've obviously looked at the course description and map but just wondering in the heat of the race - will it be obvious where to go at all the roundabouts/slip roads? I'm very new to training/racing with power. I have a 20 min figure, but is there any place I can read up on what sort of percentage of that power I should be trying to put out for a 25 mile tt?
Thanks so much for any help! -

I have left stuff at HQ before. You should have the email for the organiser who will be able to tell you for sure.
You should be able to find the Risk Assessment for the course on your local DC site, which should detail how many marshals are required, and where they should be placed. I've found that there's usually 1 (or sometimes 2) per roundabout, but then I'm only in my 2nd year of TT'ing (mostly Opens), so not sure if this is normal practice.

Sometimes, yes. Depends if I have crew with me. I've not had any dramas yet.
Do the courses tend to be well marshalled?
Sometimes, yes. I do still like to study the courses ... these days. Maybe even have a GPS track of the course if I'm worried about it or not had enough time to Street View it.
will it be obvious where to go at all the roundabouts/slip roads?
If you study the course, probably. Saying that, I followed a lazy marshal arm and tried to get onto the motorway the last time I raced H25/2.
what sort of percentage of that power I should be trying to put out for a 25 mile tt?
All of it. Well, maybe 95% but you'll go harder in a race than a test. It's better to race on feel. I've raced down on power and set massive PBs. If I was overly worried about the power I might've panicked and mentally quit or something. Worry about power data after the race then use it to tweak pacing. It's is good to watch it at the start, before you know how good/bad your legs are.
Thanks so much for any help!
Welcome.

Great thank you so much both! Is H25/2 a fastish course? Looks like it has a bit of a ski slope start but a bit lumpy in the middle.

• #12222
In theory it's decent for H courses with the big hill start. In practice I have found it to be cursed.

i think A404 bit misleads to make it look like a super fast course but in reality half the course is an average SC course, looking forward to it but i reckon i'm giving away at least 20 minutes AND 4000w because of my early start time ;)
-
• #12224
I said it's fast for H courses, not that it's super fast. Have you ridden the A413 courses? If you have you'll know why I consider it faster. Same goes for the H25/1 (although somewhat ironically I have my PB on that course - I wish I'd been putting out the same power on a nicer day on a nicer course, I'd already have my club 25 record)
it's decent for H courses

I stick my gear in the car and hang the car keys off a lanyard under my skinsuit :0)
Supersonics are plenty durable. I've yet to p*nctr one in a race. Pinched one on the way home from a race though, but that was my fault.
I've got a 24c TC somewhere, but not ridden it yet.
