Interesting article on Wired today about Whatsapp's rollout of end-to-end encryption:

Whatsapp now uses Open Whisper Systems' Signal protocol.

Moxie was involved but is it the same?

There's still meta data to think about too.

Basically, should I continue with the lesser known, lesser used Signal or move to WhatsApp?

I'm probably the wrong person to ask but yeah, I would have thought metadata might still be a thing but not sure how much of a thing...

I prefer Signal but no-one uses it. Contacts that I send invites to just ignore them.
