What's the alternative? Playing in the championship with no desire to be promoted?
Obviously that's Forest's plan...
This season it appears to be 'get relegated so at least we can get promoted next season'.
Although last time that happened it took us three years to get promoted again.

Again with the false drama being added to a dull, uneventful season.
You're not going down. We're not going up. It's all meaningless.

Blackburn, Fulham, and Bolton.
I wasn't just talking about promoted clubs. I also meant the clubs who have just been milling around as fixture fodder.
Sunderland, Newcastle, etc. and so on.It's complicated because of the staying up and getting the money which might help the club and it's reserves, or doing what Southampton have done and going right down and starting all over again. Much like City too I suppose. Though that's all happened because of sexy Sachin and then the oil barons. Though I suppose they are building world class facilities.
sigh.

TBH after the last 5 seasons of shit football / clueless managers / selling any half decent players / battling relegation there is a part of me that is looking forward to the possibility of challenging for something and winning a bit more often. A lot will depend on who our next manager is (not inspired by any of the front runners), which players are in and most importantly out over the summer. It might be exciting but equally the car-crash could continue.
(But I still really think we're too big to go down, European cup, history, Premier League ever-present etc. In my mind we are always rightfully 6th.)

Newcastle were too big to go down, so were West Ham, so were Forest. Why not Villa?

Yo dawg! We heard you like gegenpress. So we set up a gegenpress league tie to be followed up with a euro gegenpress bukkake so you can gegenpress them whilst they gegenpress you.

Chalfie in reply to @Markyboy
No. Playing to get to the next level is the thing to do.But rather than trying to hang on grimly each season, it would be interesting to see more clubs have exit plans that allow them to fuck off the deadwood and start bringing in new players from reserves/kids.
Obviously, that would mean having functioning reserve teams and everything. And who's going to do that?WBA showed how to do it.

Yes not a bad night. If only our strikers converted more of their chances we'd have the game done and dusted already

^ I always think that one was a little racist and anti northern as well as being anti footballer.
"Look everyone, a black professional footballer form Manchester that did well at school.....well I never"
but then reading the Guardian can make you a little sensitive.
