Does the yellow light stay on always with the Aldi/Planet X version? The one I got the other day seems to. Wondering if it's not charging or if that's normal behaviour.

On if ok, flashing if low battery. When plugged in pulses if charging and stays on when done.

Thanks! That's what it's doing.

Anyone know of a cheap alternative to the lezyne duo front/rear combined helmet light?

Cheers Aggi. That's helpful.
For anyone wondering about the Ebay moon knock off: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271888087397?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
It came yesterday and is surprisingly well built and pleasingly bright. It's yet to withstand any rain so will see how it goes. -

Looking for a rechargeable front light that I can use for commute (1hr) and occasional through the night ride. I know you can piggy back a battery on some of the Exposure lights but they are out of my price range. Are there any other options that allow charging whilst working?
Or should I look at an ebay usb light unit with a couple of different sized power banks? -

If anyone is on the lookout for a bright front light the Blackburn Central 700 is going fairly cheap on Ribble. I bought one a couple of weeks ago: http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/blackburn-central-700-front-light/
The mount it comes with isn't very well reviewed, but I haven't tried it yet. As it fits a GoPro mount I've just fitted it to the bottom of my Barfly Garmin mount, which is very neat and gets it off the bars. Means the light is upside down, which isn't ideal for the beam pattern, but it's bright enough that it doesn't seem like too much of a problem.
Battery is easy to replace, so should be possible to carry a few for longer rides if you can find somewhere that sells them. Also has a lifetime warranty.

The best bicycle lights ever... and I can no longer find em :( :( :(
I'm of the impression that bicycle lights are a pain in the ass, they get lost/stolen/dropped/cracked/wet/and with odd batteries that you never replace - personally I constantly find myself replacing them. Until...
I was in Holland a year or two ago and unwittingly bought a set of 'cable tie mechanism' rubber one piece bicycle lights. ~Fucking amazing~ once they go on they never come off until you snip them off and put them in the bin - no replaceable batteries, waterproof, really minimalistic form and impossible to take off without a knife or scissors - snap on and forget! Really cheap and pretty bright too. I will be so sad if they are no longer made.
[But these disposable lights sound bad for the environment - well in all the time I owned them (over a year) I never had to additional new ones]
Can somebody please tell me where to buy theses type of lights again! I will be very greatfull!

I'm after a rear light that will fit a bike with an aero seatpost. Looking at the Lezyne strip drive/pro. Any cheaper alternatives?

Thanks. I just saw that Jobsworth one, but I think I need something that mounts to the post or seatstays because I sometimes have a saddle bag (have considered saddle bag mounting ones, but they have a track record of bouncing off over potholes)

Sorry, my mistake.
I've just checked and I bought a pair: I use the rear with the front light's band mount on my TT bike's seatpost.

You can buy that same light on eBay and get a silicon mount with it, they're really good little lights.
-
• #4341
Mind you, a quick search suggests you could get a pair of the PX lights for less than the rear Lezyne...
-

That's a very good point. Whats the battery life like? Is the band mount long enough to go around an aero post and so the light doesn't slide around to the side?

I had mine pinched when i forgot to take it off the handlebars not so long ago. Really liked it too. I just bit the bullet and got an exposure diablo, which is awesome.
