  • Right, had a look and called round a few places but can't glean much reliable info. Looking to buy a replacement clutch cable for this husky, it's a 2001 125 wre sm, so say the closest I can find is a 1999 125 cr, how interchangeable are they?

  • Just got a universal one off eBay in the end, labelled as a temporary fix but reckon it'll do the job if it fits. Husqvarna parts are a bit of a ball ache to track down it turns out. One mechanic said in the old days he would've been able to make one up but they've been emasculated to being just fitters by the manufacturers.

  • Didn't realise it had got that bad. Guys I knew running Husqvarna 10 years ago always had 2 bikes, one to ride, one for spares. A universal one should do it, if it's the type with the adjustable nipple then that's the weak point and the reason they're considered temporary, the nipple slips on the cable and you lose the clutch.

  • You could probably get a framebuilder/bike mech/car mech/plumber/anyone with a torch to whack a bit of braze on the adjustable nipple once you get it in the right place and it'll be a lot more solid.

  • Vespas use nipples on clutch and brake cables and they don't slip. I just bought half a dozen cables with adjustable nipples for £14 posted.

  • Venhill cables in dorking.

  • Cheers all, yeah venhill came up a lot on eBay actually, I'll give them a ring

  • Holy speed batman!

    ~200mph apparently.

  • I go watch this at Silverstone every year and it's hard to comprehend that there are humans controlling these machines as they fly past you like that.

  • Direct access booked for the end of April...

    Bit nervous.

  • any opinions on vtr1000 firestorms? seen a really cheap one, excellent condition but loads of miles.

  • Valve clearances, they drink fuel less than 100 miles to a tank, early bikes have a smaller tank I think so look at 80 miles to a tank. Usual honda electrics.

  • They're fun to ride, more torquey under 6k than the TL1000s were. Lynx is right on the fuel though...very thirsty. A friend had one for 20k miles or so before it was written off and had no problems with the electrics. How many miles?

  • Completely insane - I've done a shade under 180mph and the thought of someone going past 30mph+ faster boggles the mind. They're hitting 215mph on some of the longer straights now.

That said, they're hitting 200mph plus at the TT now too. Ooof.

  • TT course has been tweaked ;)

Look at the on wheel/front suspension footage to see how bouncy the road is. 200 on track is very different to 200 on the road. Have done 180 odd on track on a motorbike (straight line at brundingthorpe) and over that in a car.

  • about 25000.
i have read that the engines are good for 50-60k if looked after, but thats anecdotal.

  • You get used to it, lizard brain and all that, learn to handle it. Look at fast jet pilots.

  • That said, they're hitting 200mph plus at the TT now too. Ooof.

Going and seeing the TT is on my bucket list.

I think I'll try make it happen in next few years.

  • Same - I've always wanted to see the TT. It's a real schlep these days sadly.

Neil, 25k isn't much at all, wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

  • Do it.

Why not try and get involved and marshal?

  • That's my thoughts too, but then I bought my last car with 140k on it!

  • Yeah high miles can be fine anyway - my current GSXR thou has nearly 45k on and still runs like a beast. Less than 4psi variance across all the cylinders and the only new things that've gone in are oil, filters and a camchain tensioner.

Bigger bikes have a fairly easy life for the most part, they just don't get thrashed.

  • Look at the bike and the owner not the miles.

  • +1 for Venhill, or HEL. Venhill closer, but both British
