  • Finnish Protecting guard not that it matters though...

I know I know, they all look the same. :D

  • So the winning time was
    6:10:37

    I went with 6:12:21

  • Poked a mate at work to enter the comp, 5 seconds out, 6:10:42!

  • was closer with the women's at 3:45:07 which was 3:43:27

  • I'll have to do more in-depth research for Paris Roubaix.
Wind direction. Speed. Air pressure. Historical trends.

  • rim width. cobble girth.
granular consistency of road grime in conjunction with humidity.

  • My reasoning was that they would probably go a bit quicker this year but the weather was also likely to be bad.

  • A couple of questions for Rapha folks :-
Base layer for late spring/summer/early autumn - Merino Mesh or Proteam ?
Secondly, a question for Cycling Club members. I'm in Birmingham, so no shop here. Tempted to join though as I go to Amsterdam 2-3 times a year and the road bike hire for £15 a day seems good value. What do you think to the RCC, and have you hired bikes from a Rapha shop before ?

  • Merino mesh is more versatile. Seems to work over a bigger temperature range.

  • Merino. Not mesh, just merino.

  • For me the slight less warmth you get from a mesh vs a thin merino base is more than offset by the quicker drying.

  • Plus I look more like a has been 'right says fred' reject in my black mesh base.

  • Merino mesh look like some kind of fetish wear, so gets my vote.

Has this been posted here before?....funny thread on CC....

  • Tedious question coming through - size 11 feet, should I go XL or L in Rapha socks?

  • Those crotchless chaps you sent me have arrived, many thanks. Good fit and the grippers are grippy.

  • Good stuff. Thanks for letting me know. I originally thought they were in slightly better condition. But hopefully they were still 'kinda Nice, but not pricey'.

My issue With them, as well as some Jaggard that I have. Is that the straps dont seem to pull the pad up my gooch as much as I'd like. The brutal fit, and thick material of the thermal pro team bibs is brilliant. I'm horribly short though.

  • I find Rapha socks come up a nit large. I'm a 9. But will buy medium from now on. YMMV.

  • I'd go XL but I put sock in the tumble dryer so they shrink a bit

  • My carbon-no-padding SMP makes sure that I have no issues getting sufficient gooch-bib penetration with even the slackest of shorts. And yes, quite nice, definitely not pricey so thanks again.

  • Not even sure how crotch holes can develop in the jeans..?

    Worth sending in for repair?

Or do they even repair jeans?

  • mine did the same, except for more so. I sent them for repair, they stitched them together from the inside and put patches over the top. they were very well repaired but it's not an invisible repair by any stretch.
