The middle bit seems fairly conventional, but the wings are truly toe-curling.

My favourite Hadid work, as well as a great architect she was a great painter.

To young to die, yes but this line from the RIBA President's statement did make me think "only in architecture"...
Visionary and highly experimental, her legacy despite her young age, is formidable.

Accidentally won an auction of a leather 3-seater sofa in Denmark, got it way cheaper than I thought.
So far so good.
Then I read the collection terms - I need to pick it up within 3 days.
I'm in Frankfurt all week. And live in Sweden. Both pretty far from the warehouse.
Also, we're living in a borrowed house, no room / need for a sofa.
Interesting.

It's in Aarhus. Just found out I can get a courier to Helsingborg for about 100 euros which is better than I anticipated, so I think this'll end well

Two furniture related questions:
My coffee table is this one from Mogens Kold:
https://www.1stdibs.com/furniture/tables/side-tables/two-tiered-side-table-arne-hovmand-olsen/id-f_4274163/
I think the top is veneered and it's a bit scratched and has a dark ring from a cup - maybe coffee? Has anyone got a better suggestion than a light sanding and oiling?
The bedside table is a solid oak one by Hans Wegner (http://vamptvintagedesign.com/product/hans-wegner-bedside-table). It has aged nicely, but there is a rather large grease/oil stain on the top. How do I go about removing that? Or should I consider it part of it's history and leave it be? -

I think my mother has had some luck removing water stains from a veneered desk with mayonnaise.

I read a different thing about removing veneer and someone mentioned soaking overnight in mayonnaise... Although it oiling the surface to get rid of water stains sounds much more plausible.

You have to decide which approach works for you.
Grant Petersen would call it 'beausage' and leave it be.
Then again, a lot of people think he's an idiot. -

Sofa and transport paid for - £217 all in I think. Think I just got myself a bargain.

I'm sure there's a catch. Bet it stinks of cigarette smoke or something, or there's a hidden fee I haven't seen

The firm I work for did this, unfortunately I wasn't part of the team as it went through the US side... if only our own offices were so cycle friendly ha!
It is a great design -

Yeah he's one of the corporate interior principals. Work with him every now and again on RFPs but I'm new build team so not that often. didn't realise he worked at sheppard robson before? A lot of our guys seem to head to SR for work
I don't like the Barbican. Sure, there are positives about it, such as the fact that it contains a large cultural centre, but even there I find the design very middling and very opaque.
My vision of a good cityscape is one of small plot sizes, unconcentrated land ownership, permeable street patterns, as many entrances as possible, and the Barbican scores extremely low on all of these. Moreover, it was built still based on the Buchanan dogma of putting car traffic at ground floor level and much else of the life of the city on the first floor, leading to a huge barrier block where cycling is banned.
I can well imagine that it's great for those who enjoy living in the tower blocks and other flats there, but it's not my kind of city design.
