Yeah, still seems silly to buy and cut up a new one when there's probably loads of busted ones lying around in parts bins.
Still torn about whether I should continue running the single ring. Most other things that give me this much grief would've been long gone.

I had a rummage and found a duff Campag braze-on FD: can you handle the swag?
No work tomorrow, so I could sling it in the post with those Velotoze.

Will it melt my frame or explode or anything? :)
That would be handy - I've asked Scherrit but he's busy at the moment so I don't know if he has anything lying around. Cheers. -

Usual Shimano caution. It will probably shift as badly as SRAM if you use it with a big ring of 48 or 55 :-)
The limiting factor if you're using it as a chain guide is whether the slot in your dérailleur hanger goes high enough to make the cage clear the chain.
-
• #12183
Yeah, I guess it was shifting issues but figured it'll either work or not as a chain guide and there's only one way to find out if it fits.

I did a 1:02 on E1/25b (bit bumpy, 71m of climbing, not a fast course) at 96rpm, 85". Felt like I could have geared a little higher.
Racing the E2/25 on Saturday (apparently a fast course). I mistakenly changed my gearing to 97". Should I stick with it and try Big Gear Theory a la @xavierdisley, or should I put on 90" like I actually meant to?
I know the correct response is do what's right for you, but this is only my second 25 and third ever TT so I don't know what's right for me yet.

No idea about gearing. But wind looks a good direction and speed.
Will be a light head wind to the turn and tail back.
Low pressure too and slightly stormy conditions. Will be fast I bet.
Is it morning or afternoon? Will be a bit cold in the morning, but better conditions as day goes on.
I reckon 5 min faster than the E1/25b. So gear for something like a 56min time.

Excellent, thanks for the reply! Afternoon, 2pm I think.
93rpm @ 97" for a time for 56:00. Think I might just stick with the bigger gear then. If it stops drizzling I might even get to take it out for a spin.

This is why evening 10s exist :-)

Testing testing?

Always go big. That way of you're slow you can blame the gear.

Anyone used wheel carriers for riding out to races? Seems a decent way to avoid riding through commuter traffic on a disc.
-
• #12191
I've just used a wheelbag on my back before. Wouldn't like to have a disc attached to my front wheel.

Not since about 1984.

• #12193
Barely used Exocet 2 F&F for £300. Yes or no?...
-
• #12194
Are PX that aero?
I wouldn't know if it's a good deal or not, it's still seems quite a lot for a frame that only looks aero.
-
• #12195
I wouldn't.
Theres a P2 on TTforum for £500 if it fits.

• #12196
need a new set of tyres specialized turbos or turbo cottons?
-
• #12197
Turbo Cotton or Conti Supersonic
-
• #12199
hmmm, supersonics warning labels don't really appeal, I'd rather give up a second or two in favour of getting round the course!
-
• #12200
Which of these do you reckon is more puncture resistant?
I have a Conti SSs on various bikes, but considering the Turbos for a pair of spare race/fixed crit/nice day fixed road wheels.
I'm guessing the Turbos ride slightly more nicely, are more grippy in the corners and will be better in damp conditions, but what about durability?
I saw Obree yesterday at the Battle Mountain screening. #csb
