No cleats in shoes...forgot that one.
I saw it a few times in Birmingham, but since moving to London, it seems to be more common -

Not confident clipping in and out, but likes the comfort of a stiff SPD sole??

Sort of commuted from Westminster to Berkhamsted yesterday evening. Lovely ride, wanted to get further before jumping on the train to Rugby, but ran out of daylight.
On arriving in Berkhamsted, everything fell gloriously into place. Fancied a beer on the train, as I hit the high street, there in front of me was a small brewary shop with a great range of chilled craft beers to choose from.
Pedaled on to the station thinking, hmm a bite to eat would be nice. Lo and behold, the station has its own chip shop! Checked my pockets, I have £1.90. Look on the menu, chips, £1.90. I find it so rare that life just works, but yesterday the stars aligned for me.
Praise the Lord for he brings beer and chips.

Strikes me that you saw what you thought was
spd shoes and flat pedals..
... but could have just been old-style cleated shoes, riding with or without cleats nailed-on / attached are both perfectly normal and allowed.

This morning I rode with...
New wheels.
New tyres.
New BB.
New cranks and chainring.
New cog.
New chain.
New shoes.
New cycling jeans.Part of me felt overjoyed with the comfort and luxury of it all.
Part of me felt like a first day at school shiny new kit dickhead.
Can't wait for it all to get ratted out a bit. -

First day back after Easter - reasonably uneventful.
Was forced to slam on the brakes when an Addison Lee driver stopped to let a white van turn across me. Yes mate, I know you're being nice by letting people in, but if you'd been any nicer you could have got me killed. Sigh.

Pissing down rain, it's Monday.
Spotted 6 ducks near the Lagan, all boy ducks. Bachelor duck party?
Uneventful otherwise... -

Sunny today...but still cold.
The ducks were there again at the same spot. Quack.

The curious case of the bus indicating left and turning right this morning.
Tried to strike up a conversation about it with a full kit wanker at the lights, in a sort of 'Drivers, eh?' sort of way. Forgot I was in London. Got completely blanked. Nice.
In the words of Newton Faulkner, people should smile more.

Clouds of people on the new N/S superhighway heading North this morning, really nice to see the uptake so soon.
It's open all the way up to the middle of the bridge now and the lighting phase to get on was generous to say the least.
Of course, all of this was spoiled by a chump forcing me into a set of cones whilst undertaking a lorry, but Zen...

Took an alternative route in as the balls up that is E&C drives me mad at the moment. Ever since they put in the new ped crossings. Most cyclist that I've seen seem to think that the lane which has the left point arrow is a cycle lane, then when the lights change they all try and merge into the correct lane.
Lost my rag with a lady who managed to cycle into me twice, once when I was stopped at a red light the next when I stopped as I wasn't going to filter between a parked truck and a bus. Appreantly she didn't see me as I wasn't wearing any hi-viz, the fact that I had two rear lights, reflective stuff on my bag and it was day light didn't matter. Head in hands.

Rider ahead of me nearly got left-hooked so said something like "Overtake and turn left, tchuh!" as I went past and I think he thought it was an instruction, he looked frightened and confused. "That car" I said. "Oh, ha ha ha" he said but he still looked nervous.
Saw a girl on an awesome sparkly Talbot at oval today - frame brightened up an already awesome sunny commute.
