• Do it. B7s quite a jump up in the auxillary stuff - entertainment system etc. but essentially the same running gear as I'm sure you're aware.

When I was looking for the RS4 there were quite a few that looked good on paper in terms of care and maintenance but after a few questions over the phone I lost interest quickly. I was also after one that had been maintained by a specialist (MRC, Fontain etc) rather than an Audi main dealer as I don't have confidence that the guys servicing 2 litre diesels all day are best suited to looking after it. No offence to any Audi mechanics!

  • What kind of questions did you ask over the phone that put you off? Only interested as I am looking at buying a car soon and been so long I've forgotten how to do it :)

  • There were some specifics I was asking like have the discs been replaced recently or has the drc suspension been replaced (both hefty expenses on the rs4).

I was also put off my people who couldn't answer more generic questions like what type of service the car last went through etc.

I ended buying my car off a complete rs4 nerd who knew more about them than me which I found quite reassuring. Particularly about some known fragilities of the b7 he had addressed.
