I had a box full of phh solex carbs, i bought from various places in the early 90s. When i got the chance to buy a panda 30 head that came with a dellorto carb i never looked at the solex carbs and they got sold or given away. The dellorto Dhlb 35 was perfect with the twin port head, they have bearings for the shaft and they work. Before the above set up i had to make up restrictor plates between the trumpets and carb body with the solex to eliminate a massive flat spot caused by chokes that were too big. It caught fire one day as the carb needle valve was no good and fuel would trickle back out of the trumpets, it spat back but luckily i stopped and blew it out before it caught the petrol line. By the time i built the blue car i knew what i was doing but never got round to finishing it. I still think the fzd is probably best for every day use. I did have a reece fish but never tried it as i didnt have the manifold for a 500.
Would love to have a chat once I have an idea what I'm going to do. Seeing as the cars haven't turned a wheel since 96 the bodies have been de dented and rusty bits repaired. Then left to decide what to do. Both cars have 150km on them before they were retired to summer cars.
