  • Understood. My point was meant to highlight variables in measurement points - not all saddles are equal.

  • Same saddle on both .... You serious?

  • What @danb just articulated far better than I can from my phone.

  • Not from an aesthetics pov but temporarily it might be useful to try.

  • I thought he was just repeating what I had already said

    :-)

  • We still don't have enough measurement of the magnet though.

What is it's strength in ICPs?

  • Fit-chat sans Scobes can >>>

  • Todays experiment:

    Conclusion: much better.

  • Girlfriend gets pain underneath her kneecap shooting upwards - but - this only comes on after a cafe stop.

Assumed it was a case of going off too hard after cooling down but even with a concerted effort to spin for a while after stopping it still happened. Literally fine, until we stop.

I'm a bit stumped, any ideas? She had a rudimentary bike fit when she bought it, which looks OK to my eyes and knees are covered.

  • Don't stop then.

  • Knee pain is always delayed. Mine started over a flat white at LMNH after a fixed century. Physio says due to overloading; rest and strengthening exercises helped.

  • Thought I'd ask here to try and get an answer to something I've been trying to work out for a while. I'm on the t-rex side of things, when looking for a frame, should I go for something with a longer TT and larger ST in order to reduce the bar-saddle drop, or would it be better to go for something with a shorter TT but also shorter ST with greater saddle-bar drop but shorter horizontal reach?

  • One with a short top tube and long head tube, I'd have thought.

  • trying out different stems on my 56cm cinelli vig (I'm 183cm tall), just stuck a 120mm 6deg on which has straightened out my back much more than the 90mm 6deg I have had on it. Issue that remains is regarding flexibility in my neck when in the drops. Looking up at the road and holding my neck in that position leaves me aching. I'm aware that I could probably resolve this with stretching/yoga and wanted to ask if anybody could suggest any exercises that may help? Cheers

  • I'm getting pain/ache on both sides of right knee, sometimes during, deco after rides. Longer ride, worse it is. I've tried setting and re setting cleats.

Who is recommended to see in London regarding this?

  • I'd like to go and see Michael Crebbin but I can't seem to get a response from him...

  • Is he still around? He hasn't posted on here for ages, I think.

  • It's (by what I thought I knew) too small for me - it's a 56, so I've got a 130mm stem on it.

Mainly because of the old style brake levers with a very short reach, if you put a modern shifter on it, you'd need a shorter stem to compensate.

  • I ride flats and having been wearing a pair of Vans gravel shoes for years. They have finally bit the dust so I bought a pair of five ten impacts.

They feel comfy but I'm getting numbness in the sole of my feet (esp left foot) after about 45 mins.

    Any suggestions ?

  • Are they less stiff than the old shoes?

Could also be down to (lack of) arch support or forefoot varus. Does the numbness start in a particular area of the foot?

  • Thanks for the reply, slightly stiffer I reckon.

Always starts on the ball of the foot and after 2/3 hours my big toe/ first few toes feel almost completely numb

  • get proper shoes and pedals if you are riding for that long (am assuming you mean 2-3 hours not 40 minutes)

  • In late 2014 I tore/strained/generally buggered my left knee ligaments playing footy. As a result I started to put a lot more weight on my right leg to the extent that my right thigh is noticeably larger than my left. Whenever I cycle over about 20 miles, I get lower back/hip pain on my right side and bit of pain in my left calf (this is always after the ride, during I generally feel ok).

Would a good bike fit sort me out, or should I see a physio first?
