  • Having picked up a KG 241 and found it too big I started the hunt for something in my size...
After some research I decided I was after a KG381 as it has a 1 1/8" fork and I thought I had enough bits in the parts bin to build on up on the cheap...
I was ideally after a Credit Agricole black cream and red version but having missed two on Troc-Velo a chap in Camberwell got in touch offering a Team Kelme version

  • I cycled over and collected the frame set with DA 7700 cranks that afternoon! Sadly I couldn't carry the Mavic wheels pictured so had to leave them behind, the rims were shot so I wasn't too upset...
I got it home and put it on some Reynolds attack I'd been keeping aside

  • I'd planned on running 10speed SRAM as I have it on my other bikes and had some parts laying around...
I'm getting married in France this summer and planned to build up the bike and take it over with me to ride around on in my last few days as a single man... I then remembered that SRAM had released a limited edition 'yellow' red groupset so the hunt began!

  • Having landed the cranks I missed three sets of the shifters and a full groupo on eBay!!
In the meantime the fiancé and I managed to purchase a house and have moved down to Tunbridge Wells so progress was slow for a while...

  • Now that the house is nearly painted I claimed the spare room as bike cave and began work over the bank holiday - also treated myself to a stand and a proper toolset (seems the stuff I'd been using for years belonged to my former housemate!)

  • It's so much nicer working on a bike in a stand!! Things moved on fairly quickly...

  • I remembered I'd picked up a 25mm Ti seatpost so that went on, along with normal Red rear mech (I have an acetone'd black rival rear mech that will go on when I locate it and it's barrel adjuster - I reckon black will work better aesthetically) some ratty force shifters and an unknown front mech (probably shimano)
The grey shift paddles annoyed me so I sprayed them black...

  • Quick and easy...

  • I couldn't find the cable clamp part for the Planet X brakes so had to fashion one out of nuts and bolts - should be fine!

  • I had planned to recover the flite and found an offcut of navy leather cheap on eBay...

  • Hoping to find the same shade of navy for bartape... Or could put on some cinelli kaleido I'd been saving for when I rebuild the fiancé's CAAD5...

  • So, on to the important stuff... Which tyres?
    Black?

  • Or black and yellow?

  • I'd be tempted if I had the KG241 to match it! https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/281988425671

  • I'm also hoping my fiancé gets in touch with you and buys back the Gazelle Lo Pro for my wedding present!

  • If anyone has any of the following I'd be very interested in purchasing: SRAM TdF shifters and front mech, 110mm Ti stem, yellow speedplay, blue brooks tape, blue hope front hub (32h)
    Cheers in advance!

  • Gazelle

    Haven't touched it
    Only caressed wearing mink gloves

  • 110mm Ti stem

I would opt for a black seatpost instead. Will look ace in combination with the other (black) parts I'd reckon.

  • Quick shakedown ride to the Velo House... Picked up some shitty deda tape - colour is what I'd wanted, it'll do for now...

  • Is this the fastest moving project thread ever?

  • I'll be needing those gloves back as well...

  • Yeah, I hear what you're saying - I have a black one it came with... hmm...

  • Ha! perhaps... thought I'd skim through to the bit most enjoy - bartape, tyres, bikefit etc...
I have a deadline to get it to the in-laws so it can be transported along with wedding accoutrement...
