The article lacked true vitriol...almost like the writer was genuinely shell shocked.

Best of youtoob comments:
Dear foreign investors, 70% population of Dalston are Turkish or Black. 'Vibe' Dalston ( telfordhome) obviously assumes you are as racist and facist as themselves thus only providing about 12 seconds of select footage in actual Dalston streets. Please sue them for false advertising. Replacing Vibe with Vile... Bring on the revolution, you'll be the fist against the wall...
The number of dislikes...

Dalston has some of the best grocery shops of anywhere I've lived, really good range of fresh veg and really cheap. Shops in other parts of london have always been shit or expensive or both, either due to being swamped by supermarkets or gentrified. I also miss the excellent, and good value fishmongers we had there. And the decent coffee. And the curry houses up the road. I don't miss the gym bunnies who used to park their cars blocking our front door, though.

used to be a good club there, the four aces

Oh yes, I forgot to mention Vogue Fabrics, which while indeed a shithole, has hosted some poetry evenings I've read at and weird club nights I've enjoyed. Best in small doses though.

The 4 aces.....many a night wasted away :)

I once went to night at Vogue Fabrics which only played Pulp tracks and at the end they played the William Shatner spoken word version of Common People. Cans of red stripe were £5 straight out of a box.
I found Brixton has good cheap veg and local businesses but it's changing.

Fuck that shit. And why did you stay to the end? I'd have fucked off after 2 consecutive Pulp songs.
-

I suppose we felt committed. They ran out of Pulp songs in the end and we ended up at East Bloc which was a change of pace.
Never went back to Vogue Fabrics.

As I remember security wasn't that tight so it's best to take your own :)

I would drink a red stripe for £5, maybe even for as little as £3, but no less.
This would be on a dare of course. -

When it had the excellent shopping section I was expecting to see her wandering around Matalan.
I hope some people buy on the strength of that video
They're great at removing your valve cores.
