Gnnnnnnnnnn!
A bit of XC and single trail with awesome forum folk all on a collective mission of discovery?
I have been trying really hard to not buy a mountain bike but damn it you are not making this easy BN. Or should we call you by your real name! Captain Kirk!

What a fantastic idea!

If I can get my scanner working, I'll paste up some of the routes.

So in!!!!

I like the sound of this. May not make all of them, but would be good to explore some new areas.
Plus I've recently lost my Garmin, so I may as well let someone else get me lost.

I'd like to go south. I heard it is exotic

I recently bought a new one. Perhaps you'll know how it works...

Everything beyond Croydon is a tropical paradise.

I'm pretty sure that makes you less likely to get lost...?
Probably in, yeah. On one of the Cannondales

Only one of those is a mtb, non?

Oh, thought there might be some simple trail rides maybe, in which case the CAAD with 30c tires might have been fine.

Is this going to be mtb necessary or would you put up with an Explorer on a cx bike?

The terrain is a total unknown to me.
This is the South East we're talking about though. Hardly the Peak District :-)

CX bikes should be plenty. I'm just thinking of the ( lack of ) mud clearance on Tim's road bike.
I only run big tyres and wide bars because I think they look cool.

If I can get round to building a bike....
Which may happen this or next week. Hopefully.
I'm in. -

Definitely in for this

In- this sounds awesome

Yeah well - one of the wife's colleagues gave me his old Shimano MTB disc brake system after he upgraded.
I now have brakes. That's most of a bike, so logically I need just one or two other things and hey! Mountain bike!

In! Sounds like fun :-)

Let me know if you go 29er, as I have some wheels I might be selling :-)
-
• #23
Yeah, post up the date. I'm up for it.

I could be in. I still haven't used the MTB I bought last year.

June, July, August? Don't really know yet.
Right this idea doesn't really work as an event, so will run separate events off of this thread.
I love riding around and being in Epping Forest, but there's not a single bit of it I haven't seen yet, so over the Summer, I'd like to explore some of the routes outlined in this old book of mine.
Will probably start off with the closest ones in Hertfordshire and then go from there.
Anyone else fancy seeing some new trails and maybe getting a little lost in the process?
