Stem is the culprit, why didn't you buy a bike that fits?

I have a torque wrench and carbon paste. I've removed the bung and the larger allen bolt - it's just the casing which is stuck. Can't even drift it out with a socket.

I'm so glad that stem is still there.

Id get a new steerer bung. Maybe a nice head doctor.

These don't fit anything other than weird MTB steerers I discovered upon purchase...

Bugger. Just ordered one. Had one on an old Kona and loved it.

Damn. I keep running into little problems on this build. Just noticed that my spokey-dokeys won't stay on because I have bladed spokes. Any thoughts?

I think you are a day late?

Dremel Your spokes. It'll be fine.
Sorry about the head doctor thing. I have several on several bikes. None of which are road bikes now I think about it.

I have one in my parts bin, as they only work on aluminium steerer tubes.

Finally got it dirty today. Verdict: I like it.

Didn't fancy going fast on the first ride then?

I've got an extralite stem, it's lovely, light and has a similar aesthetic to the one you currently have.
In addition get the chromoly speedplays and swap out the axle to Ti. That = a huge weight loss.

What length? Don't fancy Speedplay. Plus I use Garmin Vectors.

And another vote for the uno stem(acetone to remove logos) And Ti bolts to make it stupid light ;)

All the weight saving is marginal gains for racers or people with money to burn, just ride.

How many years have I been riding in virtually the same manor from SE London out to Kent, and it's never occurred to me to bypass Bromley by turning left at Sundridge Park. D'oh! Cheers for the Strava stalk. :)
generally takes bigger allen key (than top cap) to loosen the compression mechanism
pls tell me you have access to torque wrench and carbon paste
