Can offer some echo chamber advice.
Get the fastest best looking bike.Aero bikes are done IMO. They dont offer substantial advantage for us noobs. An all round bike is a better choice. R2/3/5, Supersix Hi-mod, CF SLX, Emonda, Domane etc.

So I love the R5, I think it is a beautiful looking bike. The Supersix likewise...
My day-to-day bike is a disc-braked Lynskey, a lovely comfortable ride which I love. A bit of a lump maybe when covered in its "stay comfortable in all weathers mode" so I want something different.
My requirements are very wooly, which is not helping me in any way.

I'm thinking of having a mid-life crisis again.
I really like the look of a Canyon Aeroad, maybe a CF SLX 9.0 SL. I'm slightly concerned though about all the non-standard parts on it. Does this become a real pain do you think?
It will obviously be impactical, and pointless given my sub-standard ability, but I'm allowed to pretend aren't I?
I also really like the look of the Boardman Air 9.9, but I am not sure that I can extend my madness quite that fat...
