I'm running 39:16, so about 66inches I think once you take into account the 32c on the back. It's an okay gear, I've ran that to commute and to tour a very flat 1500km in France. I've got an 18t freewheel on the other side but rarely touch it.
More just a case of accelerating gently and then trying to hold as much momentum as I can. Once it's moving it doesn't like to stop.
Upgraded the touring pompino last week. All hopes of racing some sscx are fading away and I'm embracing the 'practical' ggfgtb (gravel grinding fixed gear touring bike).
Blackburn outpost front rack and ortlieb back rollers. Handles surprisingly well despite not being a low trail 650b thing. Low speed handling is dog shit though. Got some flared alpkit bars on order and a 5l dry bag for on top of the rack.
