I know limited time but any of the following depending on your location. All of these are in 15km circle, all cab-able.
- Britannia cafe (sali boti and berry pulao, a Bombay institution and a MUST also only open for lunch)
- Badey miyan kebab house (Behind the swanky Taj hotel)
- Haji ali juice center (late night dessert)
- Pao Bhaji and Bhel on Chowpati (street food)
- Shivsagar (south indian veggie)
- Sindhu durg and/or Gomantak in Dadar (best fish restaurants in Mumbai)

As far as Shanghai goes, Shengjianbao is what you want. They're the fried, soup filled dumplings.
Yang's Dumplings is a chain and does a pretty faultless (IMO) version.
There's a few of those around - search on Bing or Apple Maps. Google is not your friend in China.
I'll ask some mates for more tips.
