The only way i got the tektos to work was running full housing to the first stop. Then when adjusting the lever feel you have to pull the cable taunt from the v brake noodle and then tighten the cable down on the brake arm. Lastly adjust the pads using the preload screws. As you have said its a PITA but once i got the slack out of the cable the pull felt pretty good. A really good set up if youre dedicated to drop bars are the CC compact levers coupled with the shimano road v brakes.

The brakes perform much in line with how I'd expect them to. It's more the feel of the levers and the way the cable moves that feels a bit crap.
