Very wet roads yesterday afternoon revealed a function flaw in my home-made mud flap. It was preventing backsplash, hence keeping the BB area clean, but with lots of surface water the turbulence around the flap/guard interface area was still making my feet wet. So I've added a strut (5" section of coat hanger plus more electrical tape) to bring it closer to the front wheel and away from my toes. Will report back after the next wet ride.
