  • disc is not the best thing ever?

  • how can one keep his tanwalls tidy with rim brakes?

  • dunno ask @Dick

disc is for fatties and early adopters

  • One does not simply keep tan walls tidy unless one only rides on bone dry days.

  • meh this road cycling thing seems hard!

  • how can one keep his tanwalls tidy with rim brakes?

Get an injury and not ride the bike for six months. I did.

  • ... which might well be karma for my zero-tolerance policy on #gumwalls

  • Yep, fat early adopter here.

  • but have to say Ameys point made me wonder should I get fm066 instead

  • CAAD12 all the way.

  • caad12 is cheaper at my lbs than online. Would pref to buy from lbs of course especially if there is issues with the bb (havent had a pressfit before)

going fm066 route would mean I'd be riding it in july or something I think. And the project would probably cost more than the caad12. Few kilos lighter though..

  • FMO66 is cheap chinese, CAAD12 is the latest disc road bike that's already exceed the reputation of the CAAD10.

  • With an actual warranty.

  • Get the goddamn bike you want.

  • As long as it's the one the hive mind suggests.

  • as long as its red

  • FM066 are lovely bikes and so are CAADs. I'd go CAAD12 rim brake as FM066 are quite pricey now and the price difference isnt worth the 'risk'.

  • Make sure you get ultegra hydraulic.
    105 hydraulic is naff.

  • I'm thinking of having a mid-life crisis again.

I really like the look of a Canyon Aeroad, maybe a CF SLX 9.0 SL. I'm slightly concerned though about all the non-standard parts on it. Does this become a real pain do you think?

It will obviously be impactical, and pointless given my sub-standard ability, but I'm allowed to pretend aren't I?

I also really like the look of the Boardman Air 9.9, but I am not sure that I can extend my madness quite that fat...

  • Checked the waiting time on aeroroad?

Can offer some echo chamber advice.
Get the fastest best looking bike.

Aero bikes are done IMO. They dont offer substantial advantage for us noobs. An all round bike is a better choice. R2/3/5, Supersix Hi-mod, CF SLX, Emonda, Domane etc.

  • Aero wheels will make significantly more advantage than an aero frame. If you want to spend money you'd be better off buying a mid range complete bike and chucking some Zipps or similar on it.

  • @edwardz is currently espousing we are better off buying aero helmets

  • Why not both?

  • This man speaks sense.

  • Aero wheels look blinger too.
