  • Bought from dirkbang's friend (sorry, forgotten your name), there's a pretty good description of what the frame is in the link.

    http://www.lfgss.com/thread33626.html

It's obviously not brand new, but not in bad nick, few scratches here and there but nothing too stressful. Builds into a really pretty bike. The paint is sort of pearlescent in sunlight.

I never got around to putting a front mech on it as I don't think there is currently a cable guide under the BB shell for it - you can pick these up for a couple of quid from various online shops however and I think that should be all you need to get it with the full complement of gears.

If anyone wants close up pictures of anything let me know and I'll post them here. Since buying, it's had a bottom bracket put in (ultegra octalink) and a shimano 105 headset.

The frame is for 27" wheels, I've run 700s in it using Tektro super long drop brakes from sjs. Also, I've drilled the back of the fork out to take an allen bolt brake.

Price for the frame, forks, headset, bottom bracket - £sold. Included is the clamp on downtube cable stop. You can have the seatpost as well for an extra fiver.

Collection from W12 / PM me if you're interested. I'm not going to post it anywhere. Dibs to be followed by PMs - please don't express an interest if you're not going to contact me / answer emails / turn up!

Attached is a picture of it in it's current state. Various of the other parts are also for sale:

bars - Deda dritto straight bar, 26.0 diameter. £sold

stem - Nitto 1" quill, fairly short. £sold

rear mech - shimano sora. £sold

    Cheers,

    Chris

  • oh my days... the ultimate hipster fem bike: white mixte, H+sons, shiny mudguards, honey brooks!

  • Hipster build strictly optional :)

Those mudguards only lasted about two rides after that photo, they're so noisy they're impossible to live with...

  • Interested in the whole lot... and want to ask whether you'd part with the braks?

Firstly: how tall is the ST?

PS agree on the mudguards: were they the Velo Orange ones?

  • I can probably part with the brakes, I thought I'd keep them but I guess I'm unlikely to need to run 700 wheels on a 27" in the near future. £40 new, how about £20?

The whole lot won't include the wheels, chainset, chain, saddle or grips. It could include the rack if you're interested. I've also got a front mech (boxed that I've not fitted) and front / rear thumb shifters that could go with it.

The seat tube is 54cm, however my wife rides a 49cm Fratello which is the same/correct size. I'll double check this measurement when I get home tonight.

They were the velo oranges - they do look pretty though!

  • shootthebreeze - got your PM, if Skully doesn't take it, you've got second dibs on it.

  • OK
I just PMed you but you've given me loads of info^^

One thing I'm keen to know, as well as BB height and theoretical TT length, is rear spacing...

    Ta

    PS Back off shoots

  • unlikely 3rd dibs.

I'm interested in confirming the sizing but it looks about right.

I'd be wanting: frame, forks, headset, bottom bracket plus the brakes if pos.

  • ok - thanks all. I'll get those measurements tonight.

  • unlikely 4th dibs please

  • on the frame...

  • ok - thanks all. I'll get those measurements tonight.

I'm afraid I've got to withdraw. I won a frame on ebay that I wan't expecting. Sorry.

  • Hoping it's small, or Shoots gets it...

  • Hi chaps, I'm afraid that bringing it out to measure bought on a bout of nostalgia, so it might be rebuilt to live again.
Apologies for any disapointment and timewasting. It'll probably be back in a few months anyway ;)

(It's about 54cm square btw, which surprises me a lot, as that's my size yet when I rode it it was tiny. I guess maybe the frame shape makes typical measurements funny (or it was a bit dark when I measured it and I got it wrong...)

  • yes, seems much smaller, particularly in length. Oh well. it's lovely!

btw I've got a nice pair of Maillard touring wheels, 36h, rear on a NOS Ma2 already built, front on a NOS super champion, that I was building up for this, that I may not need. Would suit this bike well... rear hub is 126mm, with fixed threads on rear in old style, could be respaced for single/fixed easily...

  • must not buy more bike parts

Thanks Skully, it sounds like I've scuppered your plans, apologies for that. I'll probably stick with the H+ rims for now (at least until they get transfered onto the bike they were meant for originally!)

  • Coises!
    Enjoy it (again) CSpaceM.

  • Is this back on the market again yet?

  • Heard this is up for sale again, @christianspaceman will be along when he can work out how to log in to the forum.

  • Too early for a potential dibs (pending condition, price, etc?)

  • Do it!

Can give you Christian Spaceman's new random-sounding username if you hear nothing. Think he's trying to work out how to access his old account.

  • Owner here, shambolic sale, I'll be able to get back on my main account tomorrow. Flanimal - dibs noted - I'll PM you tomorrow. Condition as above really, generally pretty nice - no obvious significant damage / scratches. Polishes up to be quite pretty.

Price - £70, including any / all of the following: cable stop, seatpost, stem, BB, headset, handlebar, rubbish (sora) but functional rear mech and chain. Long drop brakes included if you like. Never got around to plumbing in a front mech but I imagine it would be doable.

Any further questions to christianSpaceman / this thread.

Collection from W4 / Turnham Green station only.

    Cheers!

  • ...Those wheels are also available if anyone wants to do a full recreation of c.2009 :)...

  • Right, back now, let me know if anyone wants this :)
