Get a narrow wide chairing and stop worrying about chain retention. I have a 50t one and will probably pick up a 54 or 56 at some point for flat TTs.
Just using a regular di2 rear mech, no clutch. Same setup minus di2 and a 38t instead that I have been racing cx with. The only time I dropped a chain was when I managed to wedge a couple of kilos of mud into the drivetrain.
Depends who you believe. Not sure I can be arsed with another chainring. Do Shimano even do them? Are there aero 56T versions? Do you need special chain? How's chain tension?
