• His name isn't Martyn Parkes is it?...

  • alas no. 'Nigel'. He's caught me though; I need to be careful with messaging his wife (?), and I won't get away with my 'vile tactics' anymore. Absolute fucking loon.

  • My tactic with a recent cunt seller was to ignore his mental eBay messages. All correspondence was done via the eBay resolution process.

  • The thing is, he did it all through the eBay resolution messaging thing so it's all accessible by eBay. I've reported him anyway, but judging by his past feedback received he's got a history of cuntish behaviour.
If I can get the negative feedback ('THREATENING SELLER') removed, I'll be happy.
I'm annoyed how much I let it stress me out, as it's quite funny really. He's accused me of being 'abusive' and 'threatening' when he has done both those things and I have been nothing but completely polite. Absolute maniac.

  • Well there's nothing like a total psycho having your full name and address to make you sleep well at night, eh?

  • Good luck getting any kind of response out of ebay customer service

  • He's pulling out the ex-army thing now. Somehow I have wronged his wife (again, I've been nothing but polite and professional) and I have been reported to the police for 'ABUSE'. Quite how he thinks it's going to look when the police are shown the emails that clearly show him saying "I KNOW WHERE YOU ARE, GOT IT!" Etc. It's lovely to think that they will get involved, but I suspect they have bigger things to deal with than Nigel. Shame really.

All in all, an absolute fucking lunatic who is really ruining the first day of my holidays.

I spoke to eBay customer service who have no powers to block him, despite him making threats of violence using their messaging system apparently. Seems a bit odd to me. Hopefully he'll get a nice suspension which'll really rattle him, anyway.

  • Is he currently selling anything? I've just been paid and fancy buying something.
Hope whatever it is doesn't get lost though :/

  • I'd happily buy from this person. It sounds like a right laugh especially now I'm well practiced in e-bay dispute procedures.

  • Put in the add note to seller bit at checkout "how's your wife?"

  • Bivvy bag off ebay was marked as "great condition", the only thing that was great about it was the great many marks and issues I found opening it up. Missing the string to close the opening, massive loads of marks to the outside, and all the seam lining was peeling off. Not great, not even fair.

  • Won and paid for a rapha pro team softshell the other day... a few days later realise the payment on my paypal was still pending, check transaction and showing as 'unclaimed'. Contact seller who then says he hasn't received it, and will contact paypal. Nothing.
Day later, contact him again and he says he messaged me and sent an invoice from a totally different email address on his paypal. State emphatically that I won't be sending money to any other email address let alone one outside ebay and he's gone silent. Checked both email addresses on FB and they link to his and his partner's accounts.

Would he be so fucking stupid as to try and rip someone off like that? He's a right fat bastard too so there's no way the jacket was his, and the only pic was a stock photo.

  • Reported my pet dickhead, eBay could do fuck all but his messages stopped after I had a word with them about his threats of violence etc so they possibly reminded him of their rules. I did add him to my blocked buyers list and haven't heard a peep out of him, so I'm not sure if that blocked him messaging me as well.
Most importantly though, bis negative feedback was removed and I can move on. I'm half expecting him to realise he has my email address from paypal and start using that, but as yet he hasn't mustered the brain power/has sobered up and realised he was being a top cunt.

  • User I.D.? One less to potentially end up dealing with if added to the blocked list. You never know.

  • It IS Martyn Parkes!! He's changed his MO slightly (now ex army, as an ex police officer threatening members of the public is a criminal offence), I had a gobshite of abuse from him over a chain ring that was gash. Threatened me with coming round and giving me a good seeing to. He sometimes pretends it's his 'wife' in eBay messages.

    AS IF.

He's going by the name of 'Nigel' now, and sells a lot of postcards and belt buckles. I just bought a postcard off him, so now I know where HE lives. Hull, mostly.

I've also sent him a series of legal letters (I'm in the profession myself) which kinda drop from your letterbox like a lead hammer. They cost me nothing.

Two can play his game, but I like to think I can play it a little better ;)

  • a series of legal letters

    Share plz.

  • I can't, not yet! Taking him to court in August. Going to go all the way with this one as he's very 'special' ;)

    Currently pursuing two avenues:

Small claims for recovery of cash.

    Hate Speech.

The latter is more likely to succeed to be honest, and if so likely punishable by jail term, not a fine. Especially so if this behaviour is ongoing and he has previous. I'd imagine he's had at least one warning from the police. That's enough usually, with Hate Crimes.

  • If anyone wishes to report Parkes, or indeed anyone who abuses/threatens you online there's a wealth of information on what to do here: (new legislation is coming into play on a regular basis, but this site is excellent)

    http://report-it.org.uk/bullying_and_harassment

EBay do have a duty of care to protect it's members from Hate Crimes. Unfortunately that duty of care has never been tested in British courts.

    This may change 😀

  • How exciting. My Nigel was in Canvey Island though, definitely not Hull.

  • According to my own research he has three active accounts (that I know of) and another two registered to various addresses. One of which is Canvey Island..

You can conceal your identity online, but not your personality or 'pattern' of behaviour 😯

He's threatened to leave negative feedback on my account from his 'multiple eBay identities'. Clearly he has a very firm grasp of the way eBay operates, albeit from a sociopathic thinking process.

I'll update this as it goes through the legal process.

  • Give yourself a sweet online superhero username while you're at it, @user64497 doesn't have much of a ring to it.

  • Quick question folks - I've accepted a best offer for a bike, it's been only a couple of days with no contact/payment. How long should I leave it before getting concerned ?
    Have sent the invoice.

  • How long is a piece of string?

What's their feedback like? How keen are you to sell? Anyone else showed interest? etc etc

  • Start sending the invoices one an hour.
