  • There's a simple poem to help you remember.

When tightening stuff that's on your bike,
Three simple rules must ye abide.
Take your time and you will have,
Much more time your bike to ride.

    Bottom brackets, they're not hard,
Fitting them can be a breeze.
Turn the cup towards the front,
To tighten them with utmost ease.

    Undoing them's another thing,
Backwards shall ye turn the cup.
Unless of course your frame's Italian,
In which case you should just give up.

If your frame is Italian, the BB cup will undo itself.
