King Fahd, protector of the holy places etc etc, was sued for maintenance by his Scientologist ex-wife Janan Harb in the High Court. Except Fahd was basically on life support having suffered strokes as a result of pickling himself in Johnnie Walker over the years. When the court ruled that he was not entitled to sovereign immunity because his marriage was not in any way related to the discharge of his functions as sovereign - raising the prospect of a well-reported public court case that would shine a light on the altogether impious personal life of the Saudi King - he suddenly died.

Postscript. Having not thought about Janan Harb for a decade, I looked her up.
Late last year she finally won the money she was after from Fahd's son - who didn't show up in court because he didn't want the scrutiny and had to pay £25k for contempt of court
