Right, not sure if I can be OT given the title of the thread, but...
I need a way of linking a USB 2.0 NFC reader to a Samsung Tab E while also supplying charge to the tablet via micro USB (alongside the data). Does anyone know if an adapter exists? I've tried using a Lava-Link but it's not compatible with the Tab E.

Good idea!
I'll check.

Arrived this afternoon, now on the bike, 10mm ones fit perfectly. Many thanks.
I've let Mekk know too, as they didn't seem to have a scooby about parts on their own bikes.

Thanks andy_k! Egg Cafe was excellent!

If I want to run Shimano 10 speed road shifters (105 5700) with a bjg MTB 11-34 cassette, am I right in thinking I can do this fine but I need an MTB rear mech? What's a good budget one if so?

You can't use a 10-speed Shimano MTB RD with 10-speed Shimano road shifters. This is why SRAM wins. @edscoble will probably know whether 10-speed road shifters play nicely with 9-speed MTB RDs, I think they probably should as the cable pull ratios were the same back then.

i used 10 speed ultegra 7800 shimano shifters and a 9 speed mtb rear mech and they worked fine together

With the exception of the Tiagra 4700, a cheap 9 speed MTB derailleur will do the job, like the Acera.

This will work up to 36t if you like;

another example (up to 34t).

Cheers, really helpful. Just to be clear, with those 9sp derailleurs, I'll still be able to use a 10 speed not a 9 speed cassette right? Maybe I should just use the 105 5700 medium cage which apparently works up to 32t and will presumably play perfectly with my shifters.
-
• #75162
Yes. It's the shifters and the cassette that 'have' to match as they decide the movement. The rear mech just needs to be able to move the necessary amount.

Does anyone know what type of double sided tape I'd need to stick a digitizer and screen together?
(Lenovo flex 2-15 20405)
Cheers

It not only has to move the right total distance, it also has to move in the right proportion to the cable pull if you want indexing.

And have a cage/jockey wheels that will accept the chain you want to run (although that isn't an issue here).

Dude! Don't talk to me about that fucking video.
The guy is doing it the wrong way round, so I've had to work from that plus the correct instructions. It's a proper PITA.
Also will nail polish remover be ok to take of sticky residue from a plastic bezel? Or might it damage the plastic?
-
• #75169
Depends on the plastic - acetone (nail varnish remover) can easily soften some plastics. IPA (isopropyl alcohol, rubbing alcohol) is a good solvent but much less likely to attack the plastic, I'd suggest that instead.

So in the home could I use vinegar or cheap vodka?
-
• #75171
Or lighter fluid, yes. Boots should have rubbing alcohol though, it's worthwhile getting some as it's very useful to have. It'll probably be behind the counter so ask.

• #75172
I tried to buy some from there recently. Was told they don't stock it anymore.

Isopropanol is easy to find online. #tester_approved general purpose cleaning solvent.

Cheers.
Don't suppose you have any bright ideas for how to find/make 3M double-sided tape that is padded?
I have measured the current tape to be 1.5mm thick. And I need 4mm wide and 3.5mm wide.

3M VHB is great stuff, but make sure you get it right first time!
What about a separate policy just for the bike?
