• Freddie Grubb frame for sale. Bought from Dicki about 6 weeks ago, built it up at the weekend to check fit and it's too small for me. 6ft is probably the biggest you would want to be. £200 please, just want to get what I paid for it. Stem has now been taken out. Transfers included.

    Price DROP - £190

Pickup in Islington, or can drop within reason.

    Dicki Ad:

Collected this out of the blue at the end of a MA3K ride to Clacton. Nice little story behind it from an ex racer selling some of his bikes.

    Freddie Grubb Comet
    Frame Number 8221 dates it around 1960 / 70's

Stripped back to raw steel all ready for a paint job or a clear coat. No dings dents or marks, just raw 531c awesome steel.

Headset and Bottom bracket included both in need of tlc and a re grease but rideable. Stem not included.

  • ohhh so nice!

  • @anidel it's really nice and I fear the Freddie name is about to take a bit of a beating after this opened at the end of my road which seems to be a Foffa copy - http://www.freddiegrubb.com/#london-bicycle-shop

  • EDIT: The frame for sale here is lovely.

  • Yeah but it is the proper one :)

  • glws, that's a proper beauty

  • "inspired" by Freddie Grubb - how?!

    glws

  • How that Holdsworth is owned by Planet-X (after a few more changes of ownership), I guess that the Freddie Grubb brand became a saleable asset.

It also means* that the new Freddiegrubb has absolutely nothing to do with the original Grubbs, and probably nothing to do with Holdsworth.

Which makes the choice of branding little more than cynical marketing, of pretty generic bikes where substance > style.

    • As far as I know...

    Lovely frame, @simonm - GLWS

  • It was a real shame, I was hoping, pre opening that I would be able to bring the frame down and get some advice on building it up. Sadly it's more Apple Mac than Grease Monkey.

Open to offers on the Freddie if it's going to a happy home.

  • those new grubbs are to be fair look a bit better than foffa builds but what i always liked about grubb was the badge "london se20" marking and the grubb decals ......

  • If I didn't have the La Variable, I'd be all over this.

  • @anidel Had a look at your holdsworth build last night, it's looking great and for such an old frame too. Hope the no breaks riding is going better!

  • Cheers!

Brakes are going on probably tonight :) haven't had a chance to properly try it yet though.

  • Price Drop to £190

  • Price Drop - £150?

  • Just sent you a PM.
2nd dibs after adroit I guess!

  • Potential buyer, will let you guys know next week. On holidays at the moment.

  • still available?

  • Yup

  • Wow only just seen that the Grubb marque has been 'revived'. Not exactly lovely are they.

  • They are not quite Foffa "lovely", just a bit dull. Shame really.
