  • why on earth would you put a shit tyre on a disc? does it not completely defeat the point in using a disc in the first place?

  • The cheap tyre on the disc is only temporary....I'll be going to a nicer Vittoria before summer hits. I just need a temporary solution for the time being.

It's just an old HED disc from the early 90's that I paid next to nothing for....nothing fancy.

  • Vittoria Rally and Conti Giros are awful, and suspect they're more or less the same tyre. Lumpy around the valve with no puncture protection.
Even though the more expensive gumwall tubulars from Vittoria, Challenge, Veloflex etc are much nicer, they're still fragile. I was getting <500miles on City streets from 320tpi Vittoria Corsa Evo CX before they where cut to shreds.
I strongly suggest ditching the gumwall idea. Conti Sprinter tubulars are fine for city streets and are reasonably priced. Cheaper is the Schwalbe Lugano, but I've not tried those.

If you absolutely must have gumwalls cheaply, I suggest adding sealant and keeping your fingers crossed.

  • This bike seems to appear in every thread I scroll through... Is it a magician?
