Ah you're going mainland. I've stayed in Jordan TST a few times and liked the more local feel of the mainland side vs the island.
If I was moving there, I'd be considering:
where my friends live (or colleagues, if you dont have anyone out there)
where my work is
Proximity to park
the way to get to the beach
proximity to my local street market
Good wonton shop
Good coffee shop
*I should add a lot of expats live on island side and my family are in north point so I've only 'holidayed' in Jordan.
