The plan is to strip my Argos bike for parts for the time being:
Duraace 7900
Tririg omega brakes front and rear
Zipp Ti black aero skewers
Carbon 50mm clinchers
Selle italia SLR superflow
Pro vibe stem + handle bars
Specialised carbon cage or elite cx cronoAnd then maybe later funds permitting:
Aero cockpit (zipp sprint etc)
SRAM red wireless?! -

rad, what are you doing with the caad10?
-
• #4
Keeping the CAAD10 for rainy days, might give it mild weight-weenie diet (though its at about 6.8kg as it is)
The Argos will be rebuilt probably with duraace 7800 which will suit its style and left in France. -

Pro sprint stem on the way:

I'll be watching this and looking forward to the day when its complete!

Any recommendations on cables?
I was going to go with jagwire, but perhaps some better options out there? -
• #8
shimano polymer coated
-
• #9
I put some Jagwire Road Pro's on Scoot's bike and they're really smooth.
-
• #10
Jagwires bought, polymer coated not very cheap...
Waiting on delivery of some 165mm duraace cranks
Just won some Reynold assault clinchers with power tap rear hub for a decent price, so power meter and wheels sorted!

I've used those polymer coated cables and when I came to replace the inners, the outers were full of polymer fluff blocking the passage, then I replaced them with Jagwire.

polymer coated not very cheap
For a reason ;)
-
• #13
I felt that the chance of making a mistake on the cable routing was quite high (first internal routed frame) so maybe starting with cheaper cables would be sensible...

update?

Too busy buying stuff to build this at the moment!
(And spending a lot of time and money dealing with baby poonamis, and associated drama)
Pretty much all the parts are in, got a black toupe pro to try out, some reynold attacks to de sticker and need to decide whether to go white or black for contact points.
-
• #16
Black for contact points, white looks sharp for 1/2 an hour if that before it gets grubby. Looking forward to seeing finished build

more logos = more pro

• #19
I suppose with a massive white S-Works on the side, it has to be a little shouty...

keep it to two decals (spesh, reynolds if the all white ones) and then white bars and saddle. Black everything else, including stripping that stem!

Nice. Don't de-sticker: keep it like a Canyon bike and have all the logos, all the logos everywhere!
When I started cycling as recovery from knee surgery, I didn't know how hooked I would get. Perfect combination of going fast and GAS (gear acquisition syndrome).
Ever since then I have coveted aero bikes and particularly the Venge, but have either been too poor/stingy (aversion to paying anything at full retail price) or never finding the correct size, I haven't owned one. Until now!
Thanks to @Sekai for the frame, how fast I get it fully built will depend on life and work, but want it all done by mid-Spring.
And it begins:
